Spring in the schools this term has been exciting as we had YFCs street dance touring group called Stance in Bromley. They were with us for a whole week both in the schools as well as the Edge youth club.  Stance performed in Coopers, Bishop Justus, Bromley High and Bullers Wood where they delivered exciting and engaging dance workshops.  We had three from Stance this year, Jess the team leader who is 21, Beth aged 19 and finally CJ aged 17 who were all very friendly, talented and engaging young Christians, performed their dance routines for the children.

The Edge update

The peace in the room was overwhelming and the presence of God was almost tangible. Gone was the football table and in its place was a room, made by hanging curtains, whose centrepiece was a wooden cross wrapped with wire mesh, covered in pieces of paper that contained heartfelt prayers. This was The Edge as it has never been before, transformed into a 24x7 prayer room, a space for the local community to connect with God.

The year started with the restoration of one of our old clubs called the Dons. It’s a group of young people aged 14 – 17. We have been on loads of different trips with them. We’ve been to Chessington, London Tombs and Thorpe Park. We’ve played games and learnt how to cook with Neil. We made exotic things like moussaka and more mundane things like chicken nuggets and mash. We’ve also talked a lot.

This year Chislehurst YFC have experienced a number of peaks in our work in local secondary schools. We are still active in five secondary schools (Bromley High, Bishop Justus, Coopers, Kemnal and Bullers Wood) and we have recently become more active within Farringtons too. At Coopers, Bishop Justus, Bromley High and Bullers Wood we taught students the true meaning of Easter, The Crucifixion and why Jesus had to die for our sins. In some of these classes the students were encouraged to write and perform their own worship songs and raps about the Easter story.

The Edge FC

Our football club, The Edge FC, has grown a lot since this time last year. We have grown from having only two kids when this year started to having twenty as the year ends. We now have a lovely football kit and also a kit sponsor. We are now part of a league and we’ve won two of our games and lost one in this our debut season. The team has grown so much we can no longer train at our regular place at Cooper’s as the team doesn’t fit there anymore. It has been a true testimony to the faithfulness of God.
